Goldring was founded in 1906 in Berlin by two brothers, Heinrich and Julius Scharf. They began by manufacturing parts for the new gramophone industry under the name Gebrüder Scharf. At first the Scharf brothers focused on gramophone needles, clockwork motors and governor springs but they soon branched out into the more sophisticated “sound boxes”, which were the all-acoustic ancestors of the modern magnetic pickup.
For over 100 years, the Goldring brand has been linked with the greatness of British HiFi. Their name has been closely associated with quality, innovation and reliability throughout the long history of the gramophone record, and they have been at the forefront of designing and producing the newest cartridges, as well as producing some turntables.
