Today's spotlight shines on the renowned British Hifi brand Arcam.
All the way back in 1976 Cambridge-based Arcam launched the A60 amplifier - and they're still available second-hand today. We've had quite a few in to have their capacitors replaced, or minor repairs, and they still sound fabulous.
Arcam were early to the market with the UK's first British-built CD player in 1986, and again in 1990 were early advocates of "TV Sound" with the Delta 150. Arguably they also produced the world's first AV amplifier in 1995. They continued to innovate through the 2000s with the Solo Music, and the introduction of Class G amplification into their AV amps in 2009, which then made its way into stereo in 2014. Dolby Atmos and Dirac were added a year later, which again trickled into stereo with the SA30. In 2019 the whole range was revamped, with the HDA range replacing the hugely popular FMJ range.
John, our General Manager, has been an Arcam enthusiast for more than 20 years. He has also been an Arcam owner for the last 23 years, starting with the humble Arcam Alpha 7SE CD player, which was upgraded to an Alpha 9 (and which his father still uses), all the way to the Arcam AV888 and 10 x P1 Monoblocks. He's been personally trained in Dirac and advanced Dirac by the top engineers in the company, and has helped Arcam at dozens of hifi shows throughout the country. We're thrilled to announce that we now have Arcam as an account at Expressive Audio.
Here's a selection of products we particularly like:
First up is the slight but very capable Arcam Solo Uno with its 30Wpc digital power amp and streaming capability with Airplay 2 and Chromecast.
Then there's the new HDA range featuring 3 Integrated amps the SA10, SA20 and SA30. These are joined by the CDS50 CD and streamer in one box, plus the newest of the range, the ST60 standalone high quality streamer.
Topping this off is Arcam's home cinema range including 3 top specification AV amplifiers: the AVR10, AVR20 and the truly astonishing AVR30. All include a mutlitude of HDMI inputs, EARC capability for audio return from your TV, Airplay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth and the very important room calibration tool called Dirac.
For more information on Dirac check out our other articles covering this powerful room calibration software in full.
We will be carrying a broad set of demonstration product ready to demonstrate to you in your home or in the showroom and we can't wait to show you what it can do for your HiFi or Home Cinema experience.
I think you can tell that we are more than a little excited to be working with this terrific company, so give us a call or an email if you would like to talk to us about the Arcam range.
