Denon has been in the home audio business for 110 years as of 2020, meaning they have come from the days of the very first music-playing devices, and the arrival of the first things that looked like the modern LP record. Throughout their existence Denon's intention has always been to bring customers new and exciting ways to get closer to their home entertainment experiences, from great music performances to cinema quality sound at home.
Founded by American entrepreneur Frederick Whitney Horn in association with Japanese partners, Nippon Denki Onkyō Kabushikigaisha (which literally translates to “Japan Electric Sound Company”) first came into existence in 1910 as part of Nippon Chikuonki Shokai (the Japan Recorders Corporation). The two words – ‘denki’, the Japanese for ‘electric’, and ‘onkyo’, the Japanese for ‘sound’ – would become essential for the future of the company, and in the 1930s the name became Denon based on the first two syllables of those words.
Their RCD-M41 Mini System is a big favourite of ours at Expressive Audio, as it offers a superb all round system to help newcomers enter the world of HiFi at an affordable price. Read our blog about it here!
